Upon her 1999 marriage to Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, she received the title of Sophie, Countess of Wessex. She and Prince Edward welcomed a daughter, Lady Louise Windsor, in 2003, and a son, James, Viscount Severn, in 2007.
After studying at Kent College, Pembury, and West Kent College, Tonbridge, she became a public relations employee of Capital Radio.
Her royal duties included travels in Canada, Bahrain, Trinidad and Tobago, and numerous other countries.
She was born Sophie Helen Rhys-Jones in Oxford, England, to Mary O'Sullivan and salesman Christopher Bournes Rhys-Jones.
Her marriage to Prince Edward made her the daughter-in-law of Queen Elizabeth II.
