Drafted second overall by the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2001 NBA Draft, he won an NBA title with the Dallas Mavericks in 2011 and was named NBA Defensive Player of the Year the following season as a member of the New York Knicks.
He won a California state championship at Dominguez High School, and after that he decided to skip college to take his talent directly to the NBA.
He helped Team USA capture an Olympic gold medal at the 2012 Games.
He and his wife, Kimberly, set up a charity to assist the victims of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. He has two daughters, Sacha-Marie and Sayge, and a son, Tyson II.
