Originally formed in Rochester, New York as the Seagrams, the team also played in Cincinnati and Kansas City before moving to Sacramento in 1985.

The team won 50-plus games five straight seasons from 2001 to 2005, reaching the Western Conference Semifinals in four of those five seasons.
