Annual award presented to the soccer player to have played the best over the previous year. The award initially was for only players who are European but it since expanded to include all players that have competed at any European club over. In 2007 the award changed to include all soccer players globally.
Trivia
As of 2025, the record holder for Ballon d'Ors was 8 by Lionel Messi. The prestigious France Football magazine is the presenter of the award.
