A high school substitute teacher named Henry Barthes breaks through and creates an intellectual connection with a group students looking for inspiration. Though he is facing his own personal issues from a traumatic past, he continues to push on throughout life. The film first premiered in February 2012.

The movie won over eight international film awards, including the award for Best Foreign Feature Film during the São Paulo International Film Festival in 2011. Before casting actor Bryan Cranston, Michael Wincott was being considered for the role of Mr. Dearden.
