Before Fame

He loved the ocean from an early age and won World Grommet Junior Championships in 1997 and 1999.

Trivia

He won the Quicksilver Pro France in 2008 and the Billabong Pro Teahupoo in 2013.

Family Life

He has a sister named Jessie and a father, Ian Buchan, who introduced him to the water.

To win the 2013 Billabong Pro, he had to defeat arguably the greatest surfer of all time, Kelly Slater.
