About

French rapper best known as a member of the hip hop group IAM. His first solo album, Métèque et Mat, sold 300,000 copies. His most popular song on that album is called "Bad Boys de Marseille, Pt. 2." 

Before Fame

In 1981, he discovered hip hop music, and began traveling to New York City where he received the nickname "Chill Phil." In the same year, he met a DJ named Éric Mazel, with whom he began to collaborate to advance the cause of French hip hop. 

Trivia

In 1995, he founded the record label Côté Obscur. The popular IAM album Yasuke was released under this record label. He posts song and music video clips to his akhenatoniam Instagram page. He has amassed over 110,000 followers on the platform.

Family Life

His family is of Italian origins. He was born in Marseille.
