Award-winning radio and television veteran who has provided voiceovers for hundreds of advertisements and corporate projects. As an actor, he has appeared in episodes of popular television series such as Prison Break, Walker, Texas Ranger and Dallas. He has also performed in TV movies including Challenger, Right to Kill? And Guilty of Innocence: The Lenell Geter Story.

Before Fame

He made his professional acting debut in 1983, playing the role of Leroy on an episode of the television series Benji, Zax & the Alien Prince. 

Trivia

He portrayed the father of his real-life son Jensen Ackles in the 2005 horror film Devour. He also appeared in several episodes of Supernatural, on which his son stars. On set and amongst fans of the show, he widely became known as "Papa Ackles."

Family Life

He married his wife Donna Joan Shaffer in 1971. Together, they have three children, Joshua, MacKenzie, and actor Jensen. He is also the father-in-law of Danneel Harris.

He appeared on a 2010 episode of the TV series The Good Guys, opposite Bradley Whitford and Colin Hanks.
