Before pursuing music full-time, he was an avid collegiate athlete who played competitive lacrosse at Middlebury College. He later co-founded the global nonprofit organization Lacrosse the Nations in 2009 to help vulnerable children worldwide through sports. Additionally, his band famously made history in 2004 by drawing an estimated 110,000 fans to their initial farewell concert, which was recognized as one of the largest independent music gatherings ever.
Family life
He is married to his wife, Lisa Sackman, whom he wed in Denver. He became a father when the couple welcomed a baby girl together.
