A violinist, mathematician, and pianist who received a gold medal from the Royal Conservatory of Music at the age of twelve.
He began to play violin when he was five years old and started his studies at Indiana University when he was twelve.
He had received Bachelor's degrees in music and mathematics, Master's degrees in music and mathematics, and his Doctorate in both disciplines before he turned twenty.
He was born in Vancouver, British Columbia to Austrian parents.
