Best known as the author of the New York Times bestseller, Columbine, which won the Goodreads Choice Award for Best Non-fiction Book of 2009. He also won the B&N Discover Award for Best Non-fiction Book of the Year by a New Author. He's been a TV analyst on PBS Newshour, Nightline and Today.
He's written for several news outlets, including the New York Times, BuzzFeed, Vanity Fair and Times of London.
His book, Columbine made two dozen Best of 2009 lists and won the Edgar Award.
He grew up in Chicago, Illinois. He's also spent time living in Denver and New York.
