Middle-distance runner and 2019 world champion who became the first U.S. athlete to win a world 800-meter title, setting both a championship and American record. In 2025, after a three-year injury-related break, he won the U.S. 800-meter championship with a personal-best 1:42.16.
Before fame
In 2014, during his junior year at Kenowa Hills High School, he won the 800 meters at the New Balance National Scholastic Championships, setting a new Michigan state record in the event. His times continued to improve during his senior year, placing him fourth on the all-time U.S. high school 800-meter list.
Trivia
He also won the 2016 NCAA 800-meter title as a freshman at Texas A&M University, running 1:43.55, which was a collegiate record at the time. He also set a world indoor best in the 600 meters at the 2019 US Indoor Championships in New York.
Family life
He was in a relationship with professional soccer player Ally Watt, whom he became engaged to in February 2025. The couple married on December 19, 2025.
