Remembered for her voice acting and singing performances in the Swan Princess series of animated films, she is also famous for her musical theatre work, which includes roles in the 1983 Broadway production of Merlin and the 1988 national tour of Les Miserables.
Early in her career, she appeared in multiple episodes of the popular NBC soap opera Santa Barbara.
She released several solo albums, including Toonful, On My Own, and Reel Imagination. Sadly, she died at the age of fifty from metastasized breast cancer. Episodes of two television shows, The Event and Fairly Legal, were subsequently dedicated to her.
She grew up in Washington, D.C. and later settled in Los Angeles, California. Her marriage to television producer Steve Stark produced two children and lasted from 1986 until her death in 2010.
She played the college girlfriend of Billy Crystal's character in the popular comedy film When Harry Met Sally.
