English teacher who became the chair of the Working Group for 14-19 Reform which is focused on a reform of a syllabus for 14-19 year old students in the English education system.
He earned a BSc in chemistry from the University of Durham and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education at the University of Nottingham.
He served as governor of the University of Hertfordshire and was a member of the Public Engagement group of the Science Museum.
He married Maureen Janet Tupling in 1965 and they have a son and daughter.
