American journalist who made a name for himself as a national editor and food writer for The New York Times. Previously, he worked as a managing editor and critic for the New York Press and was a founding editor of Talk magazine.
In 1988, he graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College with a degree in history and literature.
He authored the 2000 book A Field Guide to the Yettie.
His father Charles was a senior district judge and his mother Elisabeth is an author. He married theater producer Tina Fallon.
He succeeded Frank Bruni as a restaurant critic for The New York Times in 2009.
