Known by her stage name Santigold, she attracted fame for singing the hit singles "L.E.S. Artistes" and "Big Mouth."
She attended Wesleyan University and majored in music and African-American studies.
She was the recipient of the 2008 NME Award for Best Breakthrough Artist and the 2009 Vanguard Award from the ASCAP Pop Music Awards.
She married Trevor Andrew in 2009 and in 2014 they had a son named Radek.
She was influenced by James Brown.
