Perhaps most well known as the director and star of the drama series Shunsuke's World. He is also notable for his writing, directing, and acting work in the 2016 feature film Into the World.
He made his uncredited screen acting debut in the 2013 movie The Wolverine.
He directed the short films 20 Seconds of Courage, Can I Get a Light? and Clocks Tell the Time.
He grew up in Japan as the younger sibling in a family of two children.
He is a contemporary of fellow Japanese television actor Keisuke Kato.
