About

Hall of Fame NBA power forward/center who was selected to 5 consecutive All-Star games from 1961 to 1964 as a member of the Cincinnati Royals; joined the Boston Celtics in 1966 and helped lead the team to an NBA Championship in 1968.

Before Fame

He played college basketball at Miami of Ohio from 1955 to 1958 and was selected 22nd overall in the 1958 NBA Draft by the St. Louis Hawks.

Trivia

He became the first African American NBA general manager when he was hired by the Milwaukee Bucks in 1972.

Family Life

He had two daughters, Debbie and Jill, and a son, Wayne Jr., with his wife Terri.

He played alongside Bill Russell on the 1968 NBA Champion Boston Celtics.
