About

Located in eastern Europe, it is the second largest country on the continent after Russia. From the 14th to the 18th century, portions of Ukraine were ruled by Lithuania, Poland, and Russia. Most of Ukraine fell to Russian rule in the 18th century. With the dissolution of the Soviet Union in the 1990s, it gained full independence.

Trivia

It is home to multiple UNESCO World Heritage Sites including the Saint-Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv. The national dish is borscht, a red soup made from beetroot and beef. It is a major producer of wheat.
