About

Welsh actor, stunt performer, and former professional basketball player known for playing towering characters and creatures in major film and television franchises and is known for portraying the Predator in Alien vs. Predator and Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem, the Last Engineer in Prometheus, and multiple roles in HBO's Game of Thrones including *a White Walker, Ser Gregor Clegane (The Mountain), and the giant Wun Wun. He is also known for his work in the Star Wars franchise appearing in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Rogue One, The Last Jedi, and Andor.  

Before fame

He originally had a successful career as a professional basketball player before becoming an actor and stunt performer. He played internationally and represented England's national basketball team where he earned 80 international caps. He won the Portuguese Basketball League championship with FC Porto during the 1996-1997 season and eventually spent six seasons with the Newcastle Eagles. He retired from professional basketball in 2003 and transitioned into film and television work shortly afterward. His first acting role was portraying the Predator in the film Alien vs. Predator in 2004. He continued appearing in notable film and show franchises including Game of Thrones beginning in 2011 and Star Wars in 2015. 

Trivia

He served as a stunt double for the original Chewbacca Peter Mayhew in Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 2015. He also appeared in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.

Family life

He was born in Bangor, Wales, and was raised in Brighton, England. He has been married and has one son.
