Hall of Fame halfback who was a 6-time Pro Bowl selection and scored 40 touchdowns during his 15-year career. He also won two medals at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics, taking silver in the 4 by 400 meter relay and bronze in the 400 meter solo race.

He was a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity at the University of San Francisco.


He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame just four years after being named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Family Life

He fathered four children with Mary Louise Paige, whom he married in 1952.
