Judges have included Tom Colicchio, Gail Simmons, Graham Elliot, Ted Allen, Eric Ripert, Anthony Bourdain, Emeril Lagasse and others. It spawned spinoff series such as Top Chef Masters, Top Chef: Just Desserts and Top Chef Junior.
