The state of Kansas is located in the Midwestern region of the US. It is a landlocked state bordered by four other states. The state's name was derived from the Kansas River which flows through its borders. Kansas is the 36th most crowded state in terms of population. Its largest metro area is the Kansas City, MO-KS area. The official state mammal of Kansas is the American bison. 

Trivia

The state is known for its agriculture which includes wheat, corn, sorghum, and soybeans. It was the 34th state to enter into the Union in 1861. The state was home to a number of figures from the Wild West-era including Wild Bill Hickok and Wyatt Earp
